Welcome to the Begonia Island Blog!

On Tuesday 10 November at 3:20pm, Begonia Island was born! Although this day marked the beginning of access to our own virtual world, research and preparations had been underway for many months prior.

This blog will document the journey of our students and teachers as we establish the island and implement various projects. For background information about the project, visit our page titled, What is Begonia Island?

Begonia Island will be established by the Project Team, a group of students and teachers with an interest in virtual worlds. Commencing in 2010, they will meet each week during “long lunch” to learn about the many facets of establishing a virtual world. Members of the Project Team do not require advanced ICT skills, just large amounts of enthusiasm and the ability to exercise their imaginations!

Initially, students who are part of the Project Team will range in age from around 13 to 16 years of age. However, as there are no user age restrictions with private spaces managed by ReactionGrid, students of various ages will be able to join the Project Team and participate in in-world activities.

If you wish to keep up-to-date with the progress of the Begonia Island Project, you can follow us on Twitter. Visit the Contact Us page for other contact details.
